My rooster’s crow

I’ve heard even in areas where chickens are allowed, often there is a rule against having a rooster. Among the complaints that are often sited, one is the complaint that a rooster’s crow is an obnoxious sound. I couldn’t disagree more. Be aware, that the volume and intensity with which a rooster will crow varies greatly between breeds and individuals. Some crow loud and often, while others barely at all. I liken my rooster’s crow to bird song. I love to hear his voice and I’ve enjoyed listening to it grow from the first humble squeaks to the magnificent crow it is today. When I hear him out back enjoying the safe fenced yard, I know everything is OK. Roosters will crow for a myriad of reasons, such as sunrise, sunset, and claiming territory. I would like to also think of it as a boisterous celebration of life. My rooster’s crow is beautiful.
